Monthly Wrap-Up- March 2020
Hey there curious soul! 👋
March was my "it's time to emerge out of the reading slump" month.
I Hope You Get This Message by Farah Naz Rishi
A surprisingly current YA contemporary with a sci-fi twist; this was character-driven, which I appreciated, but in some ways underwhelming, though it had a few elements going for it.

⭐⭐⭐
La Novia Gitana by Carmen Mola
This Spanish thriller is not translated in English as yet, but if you read Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch or Greek literature, look out for this first in a noir series with protagonist Detective Elena Blanco solving heinous crimes.
The Romani representation was a rather large element in this story.
The detective reminded me somewhat of Detective Murillo of Money Heist on Netflix (I'm currently on season 2 of perhaps the most popular Spanish Netflix productions of late, no spoilers please!)
Although Detective Blanco's actions were driven by her instinct in a way that was told rather than shown to the reader, I am curious for the next installment.

⭐⭐⭐
Greek Dystopian novel:
Αθήνα 2020: Η Ελευθερία Στο Κλουβί του Γιώργου Δερβεντλή |
I was part of the book and review tour for this book powered by Fancyowl Book Services.
Let's just say I did not vibe with this one.
⭐★ (1,5/5)
For any Greek readers, you can find my full review here.

Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore
This was my first McLemore book and... well, it was not a match made in heaven.
Full ARC review.
So all in all, not a good reading month per se, judging by the not-so-high ratings and the slump struggle,
BUT...
I kept reading.
I got to see work by new-to-me authors.
And I'm so excited for the OWLs Magical Readathon this April!
I've set a tbr but I do not have all the books I planned with me, so there will be a few adjustments here and there.
I'm so looking forward to this month's wrap-up, that's for sure, it will be a surprise to both you and me!
