Monthly Wrap Up- February 2020
Hey there curious soul!
February was a slow reading month for me, so let's see those reviews real quick:
1. Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed
Not my cup of tea... |
I usually go into a book knowing very little (a strategy I may have to rethink), so for this book my knowledge was: Becky Albertalli has co-authored it, ergo I want to read it.
Politics would be a most prevalent theme in this young adult contemporary novel whilst giving the reader a fun coming-of-age story.
I appreciated the messages this novel wanted to convey about personal involvement, the importance of being aware of all aspects of life and realizing that we are all parts of the same world and CAN "effect change".
⭐⭐★(2.5/5)

2. And A Happy New Year? by Holly Bourne
The nostalgia for the Spinster Club universe! |
I'm also constantly on a Christmas mood, which is why I picked this up in February.
I adore Evie, Amber and Lottie and revisiting their characters was exactly what I needed. I am so grateful the author did not attempt to sugarcoat their lives, friendship and romantic relationships and rather gave us characters we already cherish, but are flawed. I mean, the girls were a mess! But then again, who isn't?
What mostly resonated with me: The consequences of adulting, how friendships are affected, how one has to find a balance between the life they want to pursue and the life they already have. Trying to get the best of both worlds will not work forever, so make a life with all of what you want, love and need. (cheesy, I know, but Holly Bourne does that in the best way possible!)
